The note from the German customs office arrived today (Zoll). They wanted 19% of the price on the receipt so I ended up paying 51 Euro mwst. The mistake was that I had it shipped to my office address and not home.
The customs officer told me that now the German Zoll calculate the price of shipping inside the cost of the goods and so the mwst is more expensive.
Oh well at least i got it.

London
VAT £29.30
Parcel Force clearance Fee £13.50
Total :- £42.80
2 days to ship to UK,
1 day to get through customs
11 days for Parcel Force to deliver it.
The UK customs seem to charge what they like:
Products
------------------------------------------------------
1 x x0xb0x Kit (v1.0) = £184.75
x0x Extras Center-detent tuning pot
x0x Extras USB pre-built
x0x Extras Flat Diffused LED pack
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: £184.75
United States Postal Service (3.30lbs) (Express Mail International (EMS) (3 - 5 days)): £22.13
Total: £206.88
and on top of that I paid £55.95 in VAT and customs charges. That also included a £13.50 charge from parcelforce to sign the box out of customs. Joke! Parcelforce also did not send me a letter to say that the box had been held up with charges, so after a week of fretting I finally ascertained what had happened after many phone calls to various post offices, and arranged the payment of the customs charges myself.
Boo to Parcelforce - they are useless!

Muggins here can beat that! I've just spoken to my local Parcelforce office and they've told me it will be 7.60 import tax, 37.30 VAT and 13.50 handling fee, 58.40 all in! I got the kit, the flat LEDs, USB and centre-detent pot. Never mind, I'm sure the kit will be worth it.rob wrote:and on top of that I paid £55.95 in VAT and customs charges. Hi there !
I am new to this forum, but have been reading it for some time now.
Just wanted to let you know that x0xb0x kit #672 arrived home last wednesday... it took barely 5 days to come to France and I had no extra custom fee to pay ! Once, I bought a used Future Retro 777 and had to pay the 19,6% tax on it !
It also came with 2 MiniPOV kits, for extra bun and blinkyness !
Eric.
