Completed x0xb0x's (Post your pictures and sounds here!!)

Post by EvilXyzzy »

I figured I'd start a thread so people could post if they've successfully completed they x0xb0x assembly.

Soooo....

#14 is alive. No problems encountered, total time about 4 hours to assemble.

I time myself by the number of movies that play while I'm assembling something. Its how I remember to do things like sleep.

So, x0xb0x assembly took View to a Kill and Hackers to assemble, plus about 1/2 episode of Family Guy.

I did kinda ignore your assembly guide, I stuff all like components at a time, so all 10k, then 100k, etc.

I coulda done it faster but I had to change tips to solder the USB chip. I stuff boards all the time so I'm fairly good at it, I've also been doing this for 30+ years...

#13 Alive and kicking

I took about 10 Hrs to assemble and an hour to test and calibrate.

The fab manual was well done, made things quick (Good Job)

My 606 has a friend now

You're damn impressive Tom. My x0xb0x arrived today, I'll see what I can do on it this weekend, but I'm much slower than all this and can rarely devote all my attention to assembling electronics, so it'll likely be a couple weeks.

mine arrived this evening! Man, I am gonna need a real small tip for my iron for that USB chip. I will start to build this week but probably leave the USB for later.

Number 28 is alive and kicking. Thanks ladyada!

Jonnay and I have been working on building it together. It was so much fun, I was the placing components and soldering part of the team, he was the reading, understanding, instructing, prep and cleaning part of the team.

I've wanted him to have a 303 for a very long time. There is nothing like hearing that noise when he is up on stage. Before he borrowed one now and again for a gig, but now, now I can hear it all the time and know that I soldered it!

We added blue leds on every quarter note and a multiflashing one on run/stop. It looks pretty BANNED.

Again, thanks!

You should see it in action. The picture doesn't do it justice... but the R/S LED is actually some kind of 3-stage red-green-blue blinky.
