Ok, but he used parts which must be crimped! The cable you see in my picture is soldered, there's no need for additional parts! Excellent for x0x.

This summer I plan to build another self-sourced x0x. I will try out a few different cabling solutions and add the one I think fits best to the BOM. Of course, I have no problems with others piping in their solutions if they've worked well.

Hi folks,
Im currently throwing together some orders for various parts to do a self source x0x build. And so far ive run into a couple of issues with the BOM.
Firstly, I had been using the 1.9 BOM, as thats what was linked to in the first post. I didn't realise until today that later in the post theres a V2.0 BOM. I think it makes sense to edit the original post to have the latest BOM, no?

Currently, im doing the Mouser order and found 2 problems that I hope you guys can assist with in some way.

1,7805 v-reg 515-mc78m05ct. Comes back as obsolete, but does suggest 515-lm78m05ct as an alternative. Is this ok?

2, Optional 8 pin socket for rare parts. 571-1-390261-2 comes back completely unrecognised. An error?

Thanks in advance for the help 8) I'll update here later incase I find any other issues.

[EDIT] No other issues found with the BOM. Just the 2 X 3.5mm mono sockets currently on backorder at Digikey. But obviously thats not any fault with the BOM.

This looks fine to me; the specs. are the same. I'll update the BOM in a few weeks.

There's no error for me. The link takes me here.

Thanks niksun :)
I ordered the substitute regulator already anyway now. As for the optional socket. I don't know whats up with that. I tried it several times last night, and it simply wasn't recognised. But as a non essential part, I decided to leave it out.

All parts are on their way to me in the UK now 8) Its not worked out as cheap as I hoped?! But still cheaper than buying a ready built x0xb0x from an opportunist on eBay ;) Much of the additional expense has come from international shipping costs and customs charges etc..

Is the power jack connector missing from the BOM?

I have ordered pretty much everything from the BOM and now that I'm starting to build the box, I can't find the 2.1mm Power Jack connector (ref = POWER in the power supply build manual)...

I guess I'll find it on any good ol' electronic store.

Cheers,
Laurent

Ldom, Im looking at it now on the V2.0 BOM (I'd be surprised if its not in the older ones too). Its in the Digikey section, between Midi and Mono jack sockets.

It was in the digikey order that I received today so I guess it really was in the digikey section of the older 1.9 BOM I was using... Thanks a lot.

Actually, the latest version of the BOM is now v2.0 (last modified April 25, 2009). I fixed the link in this thread, but in case you don't want to search for it, here it is! I figure I should check for latest items/prices and make a v2.1. Maybe soon...

By the way, a Google Docs version is actually very nice. Only thing is that you have to make it viewable to everyone. As it stands now, I can't view it since I don't have access to that document.

OK. A new version of the BOM with current pricing and replacements for obsolete parts: x0xb0x BOM v2.1! I'm also posting a new topic on this.

I placed my mouser order on monday. The following all are EOL'd?

140-PF2A682K Polyester .0068uF
140-PM2A224K Polyester .22uF
140-XRL16V47-RC 47uF ELECT
140-XRL10V1000-RC 1000uF ELECT

Obviously replacements were easy. Although I did have to accept some slightly different sized caps. I tried to view jpgs of completed boards to see if any of these were a super tight fit but really couldn't make out that much detail. I'll post if I run into any problems.

Also for those ordering soon, the 74HC595N's first ship date is July. So I'll be picking that up elsewhere.

Request to update BOM. I found a better price for the PT-10 box than the link thats on the Excel file.

http://www.pactecenclosures.com/Enclosu ... =Calculate

The case on the original link costs $36.65 (also shown on the Excel file) but if you buy it from the manufacturers site it's only $28.20.
