Hi,
Does anyone know if 74HC595N can be replaced by 75HC595? One of my ICs heats up like crazy and my x0xb0x won't produce sounds. I can't find a 74HC595 for a reasonable price in England, but the guy at Maplin told me to order a 75HC595, which they sell very cheap. Any thoughts? Cheers

I have a question about the USB interface chip in the official parts list. According to Mouser the FT232BM is obsolete. They suggest the FT232BL as a "similar product." Has anyone verified that it will work as a drop-in replacement?

The replacement is fine. Take a look at this post.

even tho the FT232BM has been improved upon with the FT232RL its still available and the I/O board is designed for it

Sanyo JC546 as a replacement for 2sc536-f ? ? ?

http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datashe ... C546.shtml

it's got the right pin out, anyone got any ideas on this one ?

came up as a replacement when i was doing a search

2sc536 datasheet: http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datashe ... 536N.shtml

They should be similar, the 536N is a higher rated voltage, than the original 536F, from memory:

VCBO VCEO

536F 40v 30v <- from memory

536N 60v 50v <- from your datasheet

Try them out, they won't do any damage, they may just sound different, they have the same pinout, so they'll drop straight in :)

Can transistors 2SC536F be replaced with 2SC536 ? Not sure whether the (F)suffix matters?

Cheers :)

Re: 4-Turn trimmer substitute for VCO tune & width adjustmen

bcbox wrote:I'm using some very nice 4-turn trimmers for my x0xi0 mod for VCO Tune and Width adjustements. I'm using them because it has two VCO's and it's more critical to have fine adjustments but I have also found it can be hard to get an exact setting with the single turn trimmers in the stock x0xb0x (or TB-303 for that matter). The part is also a standard drop-in replacement. They're not cheap but well worth it....

Digikey Part #'s
3339P-503LF-ND
3339P-502LF-ND

Mouser Part #'s
652-3339P-1-503LF
652-3339P-1-502LF

(they're significantly cheaper at Digikey)
They are not half expensive

These 12 turn fit and are a LOT cheaper

Mouser Part#
81-PV37W502C01B00 for the 5k
81-PV37W202C01B00 for the 2k
81-PV37W503C01B00 for the 500k

I included the trim for the 5.333v because its just as important.

Its just not worth using the single turns.

update;
These 12 turn trims are really small and they fit perfectly .
The larger type also fit but these fit better.

The Alps RK09D1130A0S (available at Mouser) has been suggested previously as a replacement for the Panasonic EVU-F2LFL3B54 (aka P3K1503-ND @ Digikey)

Any idea if an Alps RK12L12C0A0H will replace the Panasonic EVU-F2LFL3B54? I just ordered some to try out but thought I'd ask in case anyone has tried already.

Well they both are linear and the right size , there might be something I can't see. Mouser are out of stock at the moment, but it looks like a better option due to the fact that the trimming of the shaft won't be needed and that most of the order (for me) comes from mouser.
