LM358 is excellent replacement for AN6562 . No noticeable differences. Power sits on 5.333v. VCO behaves normal.

There will be a difference, the lm will be cleaner, but yes I've also tested lm358 and found no noticeable difference

Dont know if this has been brought up but the J201 is an great replacement for the 2sk30A-O (VCO). The pinout is different D S G vs D G S, but I have one in mine right now and I cant tell a difference..

Can the M74HC166B1R replace the 74HC165?

Alternatively, are they in any way compatible to M74HC59B1?

No and no.

165 and 166 are both PISO shift registers but have a completely different pinouts. I have no idea what the third part is. Compatible parts will usually be the same type of logic chip made by different manufactures so SN74HC165N, M74HC165B1R, etc are the all interchangable (74HC165 being the key thing). There are of course exceptions but that is a general guideline to follow

Thanks Altitude. For some reason I got those ICs and not 74HC165's.

I saw the other thread. Did you get them from willzyx or TT?

It's before willzyx had the complete kits, so I got them from Mouser because they said they would be compatible. They didn't have the 74HC165's in stock. Also, I have no idea why I have the extra ICs.

Oh well. Time to desolder these ICs!

These thermistors work very well.
@textile, I've been meaning to thank you for finding these. I have them installed in a couple projects now, and I'm very pleased with them. Also, at 3 for $1, you can't beat the price!

Also, everyone, I can confirm that 2SC2259 is a viable alternative to 2SC1583. I've tested one in the VCO of my experimental x0x build, and the traces off the VCO on my oscilloscope were indistinguishable. I have yet to test in the filter, where it may actually change things a bit, as the C2259 basically IS a C1583, but with a much wider and higher range of Hfe values.

BC639 and BC640 work very well in the current mirror of the BA6110 based VCA. Samples in the thread..

Hi guys.

As I understand I could replace the 2sk1583 with 2 mached transistors?
If yes.. which ones?

Cheers,
Isak E.

2SC1583 = dual NPN, 2sk1583 = Mosfet i.e., the wrong type.

Sorry, I meant 2sc1538.

Iv read that the dude from the ML303 found that 2 X 945 can replace 2sc1583, and the results are very good.
