Bass boost mod seems BANNED. I put a switch on it. I had to put the wires to the board on 2+5 to make it work. There seems to be a little difference but I was kind of expecting something dramatic. Maybe I didn't do it right? My x0x still sounds great, but I was expecting more of an impact after I put this mod in. My first mod... So if anybody has the same result, or an idea of how I did it wrong I would love to hear from you.
Thanks

Re: Bass Boost BANNED???
Does it matter which side of the caps I install the switch on? Right now I have them it in between the caps C20/C21and the resistors R121/R122... anybody know before I solder the new switch on? (The first one had a little plastic screw post and as careful as I was I still managed to strip it out..JUNK!)

Wonder if there's some different value to really Kick it up?
Thanks for the reply.

A lot more noticeable with the VCO frequency modulation

The problem is in the BA6110. Changing the capacitors changes the ba6110 input a lot, but the output isn't so different. I wonder if BA662 (or different batches of BA6110) would be less of a bottleneck.

Re: Bass Boost BANNED???
Hmmm, I did the "stock" bass boost mod from the subatomic and ladyada guide and I think it's fantastic. The only setting where it doesn't make things sound "better" to my ears is when i also switch on the distortion mod I did. I have a switch to go from stock to bass boost but overall highly recommend this as one of the easiest and more useful mods.
YMMV I guess

I just did this mod, and honestly, I can't tell the difference. I didn't do extensive testing, but on the one pattern that I recorded and did a frequency analysis on, the low-end is pretty near identical on both. There was a boost at 5k, but that's not a bass frequency.

I'm not sure what all I did, but now I can definitely hear the bass boost.

Re: Bass Boost BANNED???
I've done this mod on 2 different x0xb0xes. Although I used the same value caps on both, the brands and voltage rating (and physical size) of the caps were quite different. One x0x definitely has more bass boost than the other..
That said, its still a subtle mod. But play the x0x out over a BIG sound system, and im sure you wont fail to notice it then ;)
