gonna give it another pump...
any further thoughts on this, now you've got schemz?
eg: do you reckon the mbMKII is usefully moddable, either to
improve in the direction of x0x/303, or towards something
a bit broader? or best left alone?
(kinda had a vision of something that could have a slave
panel with new params etc etc =) )
x0x mods to MAM MB33 mkII???

Sorry, forgot about all this, been working on getting 4 old synths done and out of the shop.human fly wrote:gonna give it another pump...

Re: x0x mods to MAM MB33 mkII???
personally, I dont see too much to change. The difference in parts is significant enough that trying to shoe horn in parts would be a nightmare. i.e. Most of those parts to even have the same pinouts so you would be twisting leads to try to get them to fit.

Re: x0x mods to MAM MB33 mkII???
hi, back again ;o)
out of curiosity(...) this IC version of the diode ladder (if i understood correctly)
is then the reason why the mb33 'doesn't quite get there', right? i've seen some
mods on circuitbenders etc. - a resonance boost mod, and VCF FM, which seem
worthwhile, although not to produce authenticity. i don't have a problem with a
different take on the 303 thing.(i have the x0x after all)
in fact, it seemed to me like it could be useful to be able to have longer gate
times (eg key-on time) as a switchable option,
and
to have some kind of octave switching for the main osc (it has the sub, and i seem
to remember i used this more often?)
perhaps(...) then add an LFO and have some PWM, blablabla, for more of a 202 thing..?
can you see these being viable mods?

Can anybody post the schematics of mam mb33 that were posted in this thread? it seems that the links no longer work.
many thanks

Re: x0x mods to MAM MB33 mkII???
especially as the MB33 is having another outing, i hear..
new branding...
one thing this module could do with is an alternative decay mode,
as it isn't capable of longer notes - if you want to use it in a different
context eg: as a regular monosynth.
would be good to add stuff that moves it in directions toward the 202,
but with a 303 type filter (they sound quite distinct, different 'roles'),
like something to switch octave separately on main osc, an LFO and
cv to pulse width etc.
the circuitbenders mods seems very much worth doing.

ah: RV0, had not seen your post somehow!
thanks, that looks interesting/new.
my dutch...not good. i'll see how i get on with it.
------------------------------------------------------
other thing: thought today: if the mb33 differs because it uses
ICs instead of discrete components.. why not just build in a
discrete version along side it and switch out to it? (just a half-
formed silly idea early in the day...)
