Where is the MIDI

Post by Nora »

I think the MIDIsense and the really good documentation is great! Thanks for all the effort. Now that I'm totally inspired...
I might attempt to build my own motion-->MIDI instrument.
I am stuck on how the MIDIcontrol code works.

Right from the MIDIsense site: "Since the MIDIsense hardware speaks MIDI, it is compatible with any MIDI software such as..."

Where is the MIDI control code? I would have thought it would be in firmware as in Sensor? True-->send these bits. Or is it somehow in hardware?
*edit:I think the AVR chip is referred to as hardware.

Can someone explain this to me? Also I would like to use a PIC, but I am seeing all over the place people using AVR. Are they better/ cheaper? Or is it personal preference.

Thanks muchly,
Nora

the avr microcontroller is what speaks/sends the MIDI. the sensors themselves are passive and dont do anything other than sense :)
