On initial test of my Minty Boost USB connector the outer pins read 4.9 volts, but far right pin and pins 2 or 3 are zero. I have checked my solder joints and reheated some, but no joy. Which components could cause this problem?
I am posting pics of front and back.
Pics will not post. Says invalid. Why?

There is a 1 meg limit. If you size your .jpg files to 800x600 you should have no problems.Pics will not post. Says invalid. Why?

Here are pics of the board front and back. I got a better soldering gun and reheated all the joints till they flowed. Still no joy on the 2 and 3 pins.
Tried posting resized pics. Still said file was invalid. What am I doing wrong. Is there a live person to call?

What format are your pictures? If you can't get them here you can post them on photobucket and link here.

They are just simple jpegs taken with my Android phone. I reduced the camera's resolution for this one. I will try to upload.

Nope. "the image file you tried to upload is invalid"
It's way smaller than 1 meg

I have a drop box account. Who would I send the email to?

I will email the pics. I am new to forums, obviously. How do I include a link to a thread?
Sorry for all the newbie hassle.

I don't see any obvious problems in the photos. What voltage do you measure if you touch the probes to opposite ends of R1? Repeat the same measurement for R2, R3 and R4.

Re: Minty-boost USB connector pins 2 and 3 dead
R1 is about 0.8
R2 is about 1.25
R3 is about 0.8
R4 is about 1.25
I have an analog meter. This is on the 2.5 DC volt scale.
R4 seems to have the reverse polarity from the other 3. I have to switch leads to get a positive result.
The outer two pins of the USB connector still show just under 5 volts.

Re: Minty-boost USB connector pins 2 and 3 dead
There is either something wrong with the measurements or something here is violating the laws of physics. The voltages from R1 plus R2 must equal the voltages from R3 plus R4. So far, so good. But they must also equal the voltage between the two outer pins.
1.25v + 0.8v = 2.05v which is not very close to 5v.
What do you get across the resistors if you use that same scale for the measurement?

What scale were you using to measure between the two outer pins?I have an analog meter. This is on the 2.5 DC volt scale.

Re: Minty-boost USB connector pins 2 and 3 dead
I think there's something wrong with my meter. Now I am getting a reading from the 2 and 3 pins. I apologize for my ignorance and inaccurate equipment. I am a rank beginner with electronics (that's the point of this project after all).
Let me complete the soldering and actually test the project with a device. Perhaps all will be well. If not I will post again.
Thanks for your time and patience with a novice.
