What led to the changes to the circuit from the LT1302 datas

Post by markjones »

Hi,

When I look here:

http://www.linear.com/product/LT1302

vs the schematic for v3.0

https://learn.adafruit.com/minty-boost/parts-list

I can see various changes to the circuit:

C1 at 100uF has been changed to C3 at 220uF
C2 at 100uF has changed to C4 at 220 uF
Rc at 20k has been removed
Cc at 0.01uF has been changed to C2 at 0.1uF

What led to these design decisions? Was it pure experimentation (problems faced and problems solved via trial and error), or is there some circuit analysis that you can show?

I want to use one of the LT1302 to power a 5v Arduino from a 3.7V LiPo battery as well as a SIM800L board I bought off e-bay and so I'm trying to decide upon my circuit and don't want to just use either of the two by default, I'd like to understand why to choose one over the other or a personal version of the circuit.

Thanks!
Mark

Similarly, for the LiPo charger at:

https://learn.adafruit.com/system/asset ... 1401477385

vs

http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/MCP73831.pdf

The capacitors were changed from 4.7uF in the datasheet circuit to 10uF in the Adafruit board.

What led to that change?

Mark
