Lidar-Lite v3

Post by asmartvol »

I need to make this waterproof - suggestions on what to do and/or what not to do with the glass? I can put a different enclosure around it, just more concerned about not causing issues in accuracy. Thanks!!

We have not tried weatherproofing these. At a minimum, anything in front of the glass would need to be transparent to the laser wavelength (905 nm nominal).

Garmin support can likely give you some more specific advice: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?produ ... tab=topics

Unfortunately, Garmin said that distribution takes on full responsibility of support. I'll trial and error and figure some things out, thanks for the info that you do know!! Is the "one purchase per customer" going to possibly change on this product?

We hope that the supply-chain issues ease up soon. But for now, these devices are in very short supply.

I actually have the exact same question for the ToF sensor (4000mm).... would that be 905nm, as well? I appreciate your help!

The VL53L1X ToF sensor uses a wavelength of 940 nm as described: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3967

And as noted on the first page of the datasheet it does work behind a variety of cover-window materials: https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/assets/a ... l53l1x.pdf
