Laser Frequency Measurement

by cauzality on Sat Oct 24, 2015 4:20 pm

Hi. I'm wondering how I would tell if when I shine a laser through something if there's a part of the beam which shifts frequency. Is it possible to use a laser with either a cheap sunkee color sensor TCS230/TCS3200 or one of the your color sensors, I think I own a flora onef. Will this damage my color sensors? Is there a better way to do this. I have access to oscilloscopes and the like. I really just want the easiest way to get frequency peaks of a laser using electronics like an arduino. (I think it's a milliwatt laser.)

RGB color sensors like the TCS34725 can estimate color temperature from 3 or 4 relatively broad spectrum measurements. To get a precise measurement of a specific frequency, you would need something like a spectrophotometer.
