Deprecated Adafruit_GPIO module Moderators: adafruit_support_bill, adafruit

I appreciate that this module is deprecated, and that you want people to move over to Blinka, however the kiln software is tried and tested using the deprecated module, and the author has no intention of rewriting the mass of code to use blinka. Many of the other users of this kiln software have had it set up for a while and loaded the Adafruit_gpio module before it was deprecated. Having been in the unfortunate position of a system crash and a problem with my backup memory card for the Pi I have had to rebuild and now find I cannot get one of the modules I need.
I have tried downloading the Adafruit_gpio modules but I am having problems getting them to install and be recognised as being present.
Is there a way round this?
