hello
i'm going to work with 20 tcs34725https://www.adafruit.com/product/1334 with a multiplexer
I need to know , which pin i'm going to multiplex, is it the INT or the VIN?
and what does each one stand for?
thank you
tcs34725 color sensor

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
It is an i2c device, so you need to use an i2c multiplexer: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2717
Both SDA and SCL pins are multiplexed.
Both SDA and SCL pins are multiplexed.

ok
then please tell me what's the difference between 3V3 pin and VIN?

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
VIN is the unregulated voltage input. It can take 3-5v DC as described in the documentation
That is regulated on-board to 3.3v. The 3V3 pin is the regulated 3.3v output.

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
Hi, i just bought tcs34725. Today, after connecting all the pins, my sensor burn out. I quickly remove it and try it again a few moment later, The sensor still can read data in serial monitor of arduino ide. But after a few second, arduino disconnect the sensor and it burn out again. How can i solve this? Is my sensor already broken?Below are the connection used:
VIN -- 5V
GND -- GND
SCL -- A5
SDA -- A4
VIN -- 5V
GND -- GND
SCL -- A5
SDA -- A4

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
Please define what you mean by 'burn out'.my sensor burn out.
Clearly the sensor is still working then, so it can't be 'burnt out'.The sensor still can read data in serial monitor of arduino ide.
Please post photos of your soldering and connections between the sensor and your processor.

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
Burn out means that the sensor become smoky. After 1 to 2 minutes, the arduino automatically disconnect from PC because of the sensor. The condition is like you connect the 5V with GND of arduino. I think that the voltage regulator is broken, should i try connecting the sensor with external voltage regulator?

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
Please post a photo showing your soldering and connections to the sensor. Also please indicate which component on the board is overheating,

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
This is my connection. A little mistake there, the actual connection is 5V pin with VIN. I have follow every instruction for connection, and the sensor (red arrow) still overheating and produce burnt smell.

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
That component is a bypass capacitor. Sounds like it might have an internal short circuit which would connect VIN to GND resulting in the symptoms you report. Please contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and we can send a replacement sensor.

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
Hi, I just got my second TCS34725, and i have try the same condition as before, But, unfortunately, the sensor still shows symptom as before which is overheating. I quickly disconnect my sensor, and after several hours then, i try connect the sensor again. But still the sensor overheat and burnt. Is this cause by other condition such as my breadboard damage or my arduino is damaging the sensor?

Re: tcs34725 color sensor
From what we can see from your first sensor, your soldering is fine and the connections are correct. Is it the same component that is overheating on the new board? Defective capacitors are pretty rare. Getting two in a row seems unlikely. Most likely there is something else at play here.
