Adafruit Audio FX Mini Sound Board connect to 30W amplifier

by Manuelzinho on Sat Apr 29, 2017 7:21 pm

Hi, need some assistance and I am a total newbie in electronics. Can I connect this board: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2341#learn-anchor to this amplifier: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B01CFI6RWO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ?

And if so, wich pins should I use? I if I can, I understand I will be able to use 2 stereo speakers of 30W and 4 ohms each, right?

You'd have to connect the FX Board's L, R, and GND pins to a 3.5mm audio plug, then use that in the amplifier's AUX-IN jack.

An adapter like this will make the connections easier:

Hey Mike, thanks for your support, very helpful. Your advice about the adapter it is just great, but the thing is I live at Ceuta (Spain) and probably just the shipment and custom costs will be much more expensive than the adaptor itself, if I order it from your website.

Take a look at our Distributors page:

https://www.adafruit.com/distributors/

Someone local might have the parts you want, and that would save the cost of overseas shipping.

I already connected all parts and works nicely loud, but only when I connect the amplifier to the electricity grid with the ac/dc adapter of 12V 5ahm included with it. I tried to activate it with 12V alcaline batteries and it does not sound loud and batteries get consumed in seconds.

I was wondering, would the amplifier work with something like this?: https://www.amazon.es/MICROELETTRONI...ateria+12v+5ah

Will it have enough autonomy to last an hour or so?

Here you have a photo of the built (ground wires from buttons to ground are not there but I already connected them: Image You can see the speakers and amplifier specs in the pic.

From what I can see in the specs for the amplifier, you'll need a 12v battery pack with at least 4Ah of energy to make the system run for an hour.

Thank you Mike. I got this battery and works very nice, but it is good to know for how long will it run.
