Dear,
About a year ago i bought 2 Powerboost 1000c's and they broke.
They got extremely hot and i asked for your help in the forums (Link to post: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=121898)(Post Number: #2465) and you gave me 2 new ones.
They worked perfectly and about a month later, when i wanted to put my PiGGRL Zero together, and it died again.
Again it got extremely hot and i tested the voltages, just like you asked in the previous post, and the numbers where exactly the same.
I think this just is a bad product.
It didn't touch any metal or something like that.
Can you send me a new one pleas so i can finally end this damn project so I have to never touch it again?
Thanks,
Basil Ruys

I noticed that the power output wiring on the powerboost were a little thin. What's the wire gauge size? 30 awg?
How much current does the raspberry pi zero + tft display consume on your expected use case?

It's weird that they worked fine and then didn't when you changed to using them for the PiGRRL Zero project. And it seems like using it in a PiGRRL was what you were also doing previously. They worked perfectly and about a month later, when i wanted to put my PiGGRL Zero together, and it died again.
What were you using it in for the first month when it was working perfectly?
Can you post photos of how the Powerboost is currently being used.

Re: Powerboost 1000c is dead, again...
The powerboost was alway used for the PiGRRL Zero project, I didn't let it touch any metal or something like that.
I had to wait a couple of months for my 3d-printed case to arrive and when it did, i directly moved it from the plastic box i was holding it in, and it died.
For wire I used this one: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2003 and for wire for the power I used thicker one that I had laying around.

It's a little hard to tell in the photos, but something looks odd with the part circled below. Can you post a better close up photo showing that in focus.

Re: Powerboost 1000c is dead, again...
I just received this same product, charged a Lithium Ion Polymer Battery - 3.7v 2500mAh and tested it on a simple LED lamp I am prototyping. After the battery was drained I plugged it in to recharge the battery and Powerboost 1000c will no longer charge the battery or power the LED. Please let me know what you need from me so you can send me a replacement.
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.
Pictures are here!
It looks like its molten or something, but I never touched that chip with my solder station and I never dropped it.
I'm sorry if the quality of the pictures aren't good enough, I couldn't go much sharper.

Molten sounds like heat related damage vs. something like getting hit or dropped. So maybe the happened as a result of the heating up of the board you experienced.
You say they didn't touch any metal, but it sounds like they were working until you tried to incorporate them into the project. Is that not the case?

I’d put iT in the case but when I wanted to do a last check before I closed everithing up, the Powerboost was dead. But I did keep the the two halfs of the case seperated so nothing touched it.

Comparing to the final build photo:

I'm seeing an extra red wire on your Powerboost. See image below. What's that for?

Do you have more info on that mod and how it was wired?
