Quiescent Battery Current Draw of PowerBoost 1000C

by gfvalvo on Tue Apr 24, 2018 7:12 am

Hi Adafruit Folks.

I'm using the PowerBoost 1000C in a project.

I understand that pulling the 'EN' pin to ground will disable the boost converter. But, was wondering if there was any other load on the battery, say from the unpowered MPC73871 charger?

Asked another way, what is the total quiescent current draw from the battery with the 'EN' pin is grounded and nothing is connected to the charger's USB power input? How long would it take to discharge a 2500 mA LiPo under these conditions?

I could also put a switch in-line with the battery. But, it would have to pass higher current and my project would need to be ON while the battery charges.

Thanks.

From the description page of the Power boost, with the LEDs off and EN switched to ground, it consumes about 20uA. The charger will draw a few uAs even when it's not actively charging the battery.
