Received broken foot pedal potentiometer in the mail

by pacamac1 on Thu Feb 14, 2019 8:06 pm

I ordered 2 foot pedal potentiometers.
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3739

One of the potentiometers came broken in the mail and was wrapped less securely than the other one.

It stays at only 20k ohms even when pressed.
There is a loose part that can be heard hitting the case when the case is shaken or moved.

May I get a replacement or help repairing the broken part?

Go ahead and try taking it apart. If you can restore the part to where it goes let me know. Post a picture when you get it open.

Here is the picture of the inside of the broken foot pedal.

There is a small spring with a screw attached to it that seems to be broken off from another piece.
This small spring is what was moving around the case.

There is also a sticky residue on the broken off spring.
I am not sure if it is glue or melted plastic.
