Qi wireless charger with battery

Post by Stahl80 »

Hi!
I’m trying to build a Qi charger including a smaller battery.
I have:
10w Qi module
PowerBoost 1000C
1500mAh Battery rated 2C

When I measure the Qi module connected to an adapter and wall socket and charge the a phone it draws about 0,6amps.
But when I connect the Qi module to the PowerBoost and run on battery the phone starts to charge but after a couple of seconds the battery drops to about 0,4V and the PowerBoost turns off. If I use a bigger battery 4400mAh everything runs fine (even with the battery very low, below 3,7V).
So I figured the smaller battery couldn’t handle it so I tried powering I small LCD that draws about the same power (0,6A) with the same battery and then there is no issue at all.
Going to try a 5W Qi module instead but would appreciate if anyone could help me understand why it behaves this way, I can’t see the logic or am I missing something here?

Thanks!
