UBEC DC/DC Step-Down & Feather HUZZAH with ESP8266

Post by TheBrewery »

Hello,

I am using the buck to drop 15v to 5v in order to power the feather and NeoPixel strip (24), I have tested the voltage at the buck as 5.35v from there it's wired to a Micro USB head. But when i connect it the feather starts to smoke a bit... :( Is the extra .35v causing the issue? Or should I be using a different converter?

Thanks,
Mike

5.35 is a bit high. Do you have anything else connected to the Feather when this happens and have you tested the voltage of the UBEC when it is connected?

Mike, Any progress on this? I'm about to buy a UBEC Step/Down to power a Feather Huzzah. I want to take 12-13V from a Lead-Acid battery (charged by a solar panel) down to 5V.

FYI the UBEC device works great for my solar-powered watering system. It powers my Huzzah from a 12V lead acid battery.
