Solar Lithium Ion charger (item 390) panel voltage

by DonMcDonald on Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:02 am

The chip used on the Solar Lithium Ion charger has a max voltage of 7.0V. The Schottky diode in series with the solar panel input has a maximum forward voltage of 0.34V. The solar panels that Adafruit sell all have an open circuit voltage of 7.7V and at max power 6.5V. For a lightly load circuit even with the Schottky diode the voltage presented to the controller would be above 7.0V. Should this be a concern?

It does not seem to be a problem in all the ones we have sold to date.
