MicroSD project issue

by srgochman on Thu Jun 13, 2019 1:23 pm

Hi everybody,

I have an installation art project involving large LED lights controlled by an Arduino Uno board getting data from a LIDARLite proximity sensor. I have the lights change brightness based on distance, which has been working. But now I want to write the data from the sensor to a text file for analysis later, and I got the Adafruit Micro SD Breakout Board to do that. I am attaching a zip folder including my code and all the involved libraries.

I can use the SD board in isolation with the sensor to record the data, but when I simply give power to the lights (separate from the power to the Arduino board), the lights don't work. They work fine when the SD code is commented out, but they dont work with the SD functioning. In other words, the SD writing and the lights work on their own but not together. I'd really like to figure this out so that I can record data without having to have a laptop connected to the art piece. Thanks!
