CLUE: Tone no longer works for Button A

by IraSch on Mon Feb 17, 2020 2:06 pm

Got my CLUE and started playing with it.

Right out of the box, Button A would cause a tone to be emitted (as expected) and Button B did nothing (which seems to be a common issue with whatever default program was installed).

I uploaded the Clue full_board_tests sketch and now Button B lights the white LEDs correctly, but Button A no longer sounds a tone. I opened up the serial monitor and Button A does show that it is getting pressed, but no tone sounds.

Any ideas why no sound?

Also, what library is responsible for tone()?

Thanks.

After some research, it appears that the definition for ARCADA_AUDIO_OUT is being set to 0 for some reason in Adafruit_Arcada_Clue. h

According to the preliminary documentation, the tone/beeper is on D46.

If I change the 2 tone() function calls from tone(ARCADA_AUDIO_OUT, .... to tone(46, ...... then everything works as it should.
