Adafruit Qualia

Hi,

In a test prior to the build my monitor powers on, but shows no picture at all (I have a photo of this, but it isn't particularly useful). The screen appears to power on somewhat (ie has some backlighting), and the on/off button on the board works.

Checked this with both a desktop machine and a dell laptop, and while the power LED is green, no picture is received and the machine does not recognise the display through software.

Other than a displayport-displayport cable (tested on the desktop as working with another monitor) and a converter from US to AUS on the power adapter, all other parts are straight out of the box.

Thanks,

Are you sure your video source is DisplayPort and not HDMI or DVI?

Hi Carter,

Yes I can confirm the source being served by the desktop is displayport, as I used the same cable and GPU output that it normally uses to power my 32in display over displayport.

Thanks,

Bryant

The screen appears to power on somewhat (ie has some backlighting), and the on/off button on the board works.

Is the on/off button here the backlight button? Wondering if maybe the backlight just happens to be turned all the way down or is off? Try making sure it's on and then crank it up with the UP button just to be sure.

Also try adjusting the backlight UP/DOWN via the buttons just to see if that functionality is working.

Hi Carter,

Backlight up and down functions work fine, and backlight on/off as well as board on/off also function.

I plugged in the displayport from the machine I am using right now as part of this test, and still got no picture at all on the display.

Thanks,

Bryant

ok one more thing, please disconnect the cables, carefully carefully pry up the display connector, try to 'reseat' the display and try again
if it still doesnt work, email support@adafruit for a replacement

Hi,

I looked a bit closer when checking the cable connector and saw what appeared to be a slight crack in the plastic of this connector, and when I moved the cable slightly this piece came off as attached.

I don't believe I stressed this component during unpacking etc, so it seems likely this is the underlying issue causing problems. If that is the case, then perhaps the panel is fine, and I will only need a new circuit board to sort it all out?

I will email support for a new board, and I will hang onto this panel, and then give it a crack when the new board arrives and hopefully this resolves everything and saves wasting a potentially working panel.

Thanks very much for the help,
