Sun glare detection sensor

by aditipohekar on Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:39 pm

Hi,

I want to detect sun glare which typically has a lux value >=1,000,000 lux. After searching a lot I found TSL2591 with a maximum lux input of only 88,000 lux (but this is the maximum I could find). Therefore, I have 2 questions:

1. Will it get damaged in presence of bright sunlight ?
2. Is there any sensor available which works in this range ( i.e. >= 1,000,000 lux)

You can put the TSL2591 behind a neutral density filter to increase it's range. A '1 stop' filter will transmit 50% of the light, so you would multiply the readings by a factor of 2.
