zombified USB/DC Lithium Polymer battery charger

by mightymik on Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:29 am

ok... posted on da forums. The USB/DC Lithium Polymer Batter Charger 5-12v i got doesn't charge from USB, only DC. i did notice the JST battery connector was crooked, but that may have happened during reflow. That part works. The USB power source i use is a wall wart that charges a video camera, and a BT headset, both of which work. (and use that same connector)

What are you using for a DC supply?
Does the power LED light up when you connect to USB?

Not all USB plugged devices are power supplies, some are chargers with totally different voltage and current output characteristics to what a computer supplies.

You really need to either try a computer, or an actual usb power supply, not something that is made to charge a specific device like a certain model phone etc.

The USB charging spec was made to solve this mess, but everyone is ignoring the spec it seems.

we're still working on getting the JST connectors to pick&place straight but we do make sure they work :)

do you get -any- LEDs when you use USB power?
