li ion charger resistors

by msaeed on Tue Sep 28, 2010 1:49 pm

this two part question i wanted to make sure im doing this right. On the new blue charger chip, in the left side the resistor sitting under "adjustable charge rate" is the is the charge rate and if i remove the resistor and stick a wire in there i should be able to get 1200mA charging? the resistor immediately below it labeled Rth is for the thermistor?

Also for the previous white board charger, leaving the 10k thermistor with the stock resistor, what value resistor would i have to replace the adj. resistor with to get the max 1A, i tried a 1K and ended up blowing the chip!

check the schematic and/or datasheet for the chip
http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/MCP73833.pdf

do remember to keep the power requirements reasonable. the blue-board charger will slow down if it overheats but the white one doesnt have that ability.
