5v Power Supply is excessively noisy

by jbeaver on Wed Jun 09, 2021 2:16 pm

So, I am making a big high power neopixel light, for livestreaming and stuff.

I ordered the suggested 10A power supplies to go with them. It is by far the noisiest power supply I have ever heard. Nothing is plugged into it and I can hear it buzzing away. With the lights going, it sounds like a printer emulating a dial-up sound.

I thought that paying extra for a power supply from Adafruit would get me a good one, but I am extremely disappointed.

First, try connecting a load to the power supply. Most switching supplies need a load to operate efficiently.

If the supply is still noisy under load, send a note containing a link to this page and your order number to support@adafruit.com. The folks there will get you a replacement or handle a refund.
