DOA: Software Defined Radio Receiver USB Stick - RTL2832 w/R

by evilworm on Thu Jun 10, 2021 12:41 pm

Hi. Got my SDR USB stick today (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1497), and my order number is 2579852-0554111691. The stick is dead. Tried it on different pc's and its not even detected by Windows (or the computer). Tried on Windows 10 x64 Pro and Windows 7 Home. No problems with other USB devices, only this one. I did check the remote control by using my camera to see the signals, and that one is working. No idea about the antenna or the cable adapters (didn't even take them out of the bags).

How do I get a replacement?

@evilworm,

If this is dead we will replace it.

Did you install the SDR-Sharp utility as the instructions suggest for Windows? There is also a Realtek driver that needs to be installed. Please see the links below.

Yes I tried that too. But my pc didn't see the usb stick at all. Neither did the other pc I tried it on. Nothing turned up in device manager. Also tried more than one USB port on both pc's.

@evilworm,

Alright, we can swap this out. You should see the USB device being detected in order to uninstall the default driver and install the proper RealTek one.

Go ahead and send an e-mail to support@adafruit.com requesting a replacement. Include your original order# and a link to this forum thread so they can see that we discussed this.
