I am running the motor hat #2348 with a stepper motor. I notice the motor gets very hot.
I read it is possible to add a resistor in parallel with the stepper motor to limit current for higher voltages.
Where, on the motor hat board shall the resistor be placed?

Stepper motors do tend to run hot. The #324 motor we carry in the store is rated for and 80C temperature rise over 50C ambient - i.e., it is designed to handle coil temperatures of 130C.I am running the motor hat #2348 with a stepper motor. I notice the motor gets very hot.
That said, do make sure that the motor you are using is compatible with the drivers in the HAT. Some commonly available stepper drivers are designed for use with current limiting drivers and are not compatible with the HAT. https://learn.adafruit.com/all-about-st ... he-stepper
That is not a very practical thing to do. You are better off finding a better matched combination of drivers and motors. Adding resistors will just allow some of the power to be dissipated as heat by the resistors instead of the motor. The reduced current through the motor will result in a proportional reduction in torque. You would need to use power resistors designed to dissipate that heat. And you would need to wire one in series with each of the 2 windings. To select appropriate resistor values, you would need to know the phase resistance of the motors and the power supply voltage you are using.
