Stema QT without the cable

So (BME280) on a 3.3v only bus just hook wire Vin and 3va to 3.3v and use only gnd, sck, and sd0? Do not connect sd1 and cs?

May be moved to soldered breadboard after it works is why I’m not using the cable.

Connect power to Vin ONLY. The 3v pin is the output of the onboard 3.3v regulator. Other than that, yes, ground to GND, I2C's SCL to the SCK pin, and SDA to the SDI pin. As detailed at https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-bme ... -2958097-2.
