Audio FX & Itsy Bitsy 32U4 5v - Power Question

Post by msargent »

Trying to get a Halloween sound machine on a single breadboard so ...
I want to use an Itsy Bitsy 32U4 5v to trigger (based on a PIR trigger) the Audio FX 16mb board to play audio OGG clips through the 20W MAX9744 amplifier. I plan to set up every pin on the Audio board with 10 BANNED.OGG files so I can hopefully generate a bunch of random spooky sounds for my Halloween gallery.

I plan to feed 12v to the MAX9744 and then come off the VDD pin with 12v to the Itsy Bitsy on the BAT pin.
I would then like to feed the Audio FX board with 5v from the Itsy Bitsy 5v pin, BUT
- I'm not sure how much power the Audio FX board requires?
- I'm not sure if the Itsy Bitsy can supply enough power to drive the Audio board?
Is this a workable power chain?
Or does the Audio board require more power?

If this is not doable, could I feed 5v via USB to the Itsy Bitsy and then take power from it's USB pin to the Vin pin on the Audio board?

Trying to not have three separate power supplies to feed this project.
