CCS811 Reliability and Accuracy

Post by kcoda36 »

I have been working with the CCS811 VOC and ECO2 sensors for months now. I have burnt them in, learned when to reset the baseline, modified the polling rates and various other tests to mitigate the differences from sensor to sensor. I still have sensors that read magnitudes higher than other sensors. They look to have similar rate of change, but they are 3X higher. Is this common with metal oxide sensors?

I have 4 identical setups running side by side and the magnitude of their values do not match.

Can someone speak to the reliability and accuracy of these sensors?

I have been told by silicon labs these sensors are not accurate due to them being metal oxide. They basically told me the sensor on their dev board is just for fun and not a good sensor. Their values hardly ever make sense or match another's. Is this true?
