Inky Phat display not working out of the box

Post by chasehunter »

I received order # 2718259-0989888092. I wrote a new image of Raspberry Pi OS to the SD card.

I powered on my Pi Zero W using a 5.2v power supply and connected via VNC.

From there simply followed the tutorial by Pimoroni https://learn.pimoroni.com/article/gett ... -inky-phat

When attempting to run their 'name-badge.py' example I get the error shown in the screenshot below.

I attempted disconnecting and reattaching the inky phat, but unfortunately to no avail.

UPDATE: I ordered an additional black/white inkyphat. I also order a yellow inkyphat to see if I could get the issue resolved. I am still having the same problem. Below is the exact error message

Code: Select all

python3 name-badge.py -t "phat" -c "yellow" -n "Chase Hunter"
Error:

Code: Select all

Inky pHAT/wHAT: Hello... my name is:

Use Inky pHAT/wHAT as a personalised name badge!

Failed to detect an Inky board, you must specify the type and colour manually.
