Purchased a PowerBoost 1000 Basic and 6600mAh battery and connected as shown in the example on the PowerBoost 1000 Basic product page. Charged battery using the bq24074 until the charge light was off. Plugged battery to the PowerBoost and the Low light blinks very dim briefly and Pwr never comes on. If I use the Load Out connection from the bq24074 and connect that to the PowerBoost, both Low and Pwr light and the PowerBoost gets very hot then both lights start blinking.
Is it possible the PowerBoost is defective?

Well, the battery just connected direct with the cables it came with, those are 4" long. When connecting Load those were 4.5" long

Ok, but for future reference what about the wire length would cause the device to overheat?

the wire acts as an inductor, which caused a spike that damaged the booster so keep it as short as possible, 2 inches or less

Interesting so does that mean the example in the product listing needs an update? I just plugged things in the same way as shown.

we're not sure why, some folks just need shorter wires... it could have to do with initial loading or setup!

Just curious since that would mean I need to cut the wires and reattach the connector on the battery since they are approx 4" from Adafruit
