Bosch BMP280 accuracy

Post by jvh24521 »

I was wondering what kind of accuracy others see with the BMP280. The temperature readings seem perfect. Meanwhile while other barometers in the house and local area have been at around 30.18 - 30.2 for the past 2 hours the BMP280 says it has risen from 36 to 37.5 inHg. This was using the BMP280Test code.

Pressure is pressure, it is what it is. Because each sensor is a little different the unique calibrations for absolute pressure is loaded into the pressure cal registers at the factory and I apply those factors. If I wanted to infer altitude then I would need an altitude cal just like in an airplane with a barometric altimeter. Also note that I said other barometers were steady while this one rose 1.5 inHg. Also 36 inHg is an impossible atmospheric pressure on earth, maybe momentarily in a blast percussion.

But thanks for replying. It is always good to discuss these things.
