SCD-30 Issues

Post by billatq »

I picked up a few SCD-30s a little less than a year ago to measure indoor CO2. One of my units seems to be working fine, but the other one seems to think that there's more CO2 present than seems to be the case. I've tried putting the SCD-30 outside for an hour to see if it recalibrates, but that doesn't seem to help it.

If I put another sensor next to it, I get different results, which look to be more accurate given the amount of ventilation in the room and occupancy:

Thoughts on what to do next? Is there a warranty on these things?

Went ahead and made both of these graphs look the same so that it's easy to compare them.

Calibration specifics depend on what mode you're running. Are you using forced or automatic calibration mode?

Thanks, I'd missed that documentation. For some reason, I'd assumed that ASC was the default, similar to the MH-Z19. Since I have some calibrated sensors, I'll overwrite the value and flip on ASC to deal with drift and see if that resolves the issue.

Looks like manually calibrating against a known reference to fix the immediate problem and enabling self-calibration did the trick.
