Solder issue with USB-C connector

Post by wmerkens »

On the macro pad and also I saw this on the QT-Py RP2040 & Feather RP2040 the legs of the USB-C do not go through the PCB all the way and has led to a lifting of the USB-C connector from lifting up off the board. I fixed it by putting more solder into the leg holes to strengthen the leg's connection.

According to Digi-Key, this part has a .9mm leg but the PCB is 1.59MM so it's no wonder the legs do not go all the way but I think just adding more solder to the post holes would strengthen the connector posts to the PCB

Here are some pics of the problem and the fix I did. https://photos.app.goo.gl/G9QCKDuSRy568hxh7
