MAX6675 & multiple thermocouples

Post by avalonbeer »

I'm building a small outdoor bread oven and will be using the MAX6675 amplifier and 4 of the Type-K Glass Braid Thermocouples to monitor the heat profile (Arduino with a Data Logger Shield / LCD, etc...). Is there some method of electronically switching between multiple thermocouples attached to a single MAX6675? I've seen a suggestion in this forum that it may not work. If that doesn't work is my best bet to have 4 MAX6675's attached to the Arduino?

Thx

Multiplexing between thermocouples is not recommended. 4 separate amplifiers is the way to go. You can connect 4 of our MAX6675 breakout boards. You may also want to consider one of the multi-channel boards from Ryan McLaughlin. http://store.ryanjmclaughlin.com/
