TTL camera NTSC video not working

by Kurt Metzger on Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:09 pm

I've connected up my TTL camera to 5 volts and a NTSC
monitor and do not get any display. I've checked the 5 volts
on the camera card and it is present. I've checked the video with
two monitors and have checked both monitors with another
NTSC camera. Is there something that I can test or do do?

Thanks,

KM

If you post clear, detailed pictures of your wiring and soldering, we'll have a look.

How are you connecting to your monitors? Make sure to include a picture of the plug you wired to the camera.

I think I'm attaching an image as requested.

On your RCA jack, the yellow wire should be pin, and the black should be case ground. Can't quite tell from the picture, but it looks like you may have them reversed. You might want to check the continuity with a meter

Thanks for the response. The center pin of the RCA connector
does connect to the ground on the cable. I've attached a better
picture showing the connection. I've also included better
pictures showing my soldering job, top and bottom, to
the camera board. Hope this helps.

That all looks good. There are two non-ground pins on the RCA jack. I presume they both connect to the center? Maybe try putting the yellow on the other pin? You could just jumper it with an alligator-clip cable to check. You could also try just clipping the wires directly to the male monitor input plug to eliminate the jack from the equation.

If none of that works, contact support@adafruit.com for a replacement. Be sure to reference this thread.
