Hi All!
I'm new to most of what's being discussed in these forums and maybe there's an answer to this question already, and if there is I probably stumbled across but just didn't have the brain power to understand.
Really all I'm wondering is what the limitations are on Adafruit 16-Channel 12-bit PWM/Servo Driver - I2C interface - PCA9685.
Can I attach an 18V DC power supply to V+ to drive a motor? I imagine current will come into play - let's say it's to run a small electric motor - something that might be used in a model train.
What about multiples motors off that power supply?
If that's not possible with this product, is there something similar (multi channel, pwm, i2c) available that would work at 18V and run multiple motors?
Thanks in advance for any guidance at all!
Sincerely,
FJ

In typical fashion - immediately after posting this, I flip the board over and there it says V+: 6V Max...
So, I guess my question is, is there something similar that would allow for higher voltages?
Again, thanks in advance for any guidance (and excusing my silliness).
Sheesh.

One of these : https://www.adafruit.com/products/355 and a snubber diode on each PWM channel will drive a motor up to 30v nicely. These MOSFETS can be driven directly from the 5v PWM outputs.

That's great thanks for the reply!
So I've been looking around to try and understand a little more about the "snubber" and if I understand I would place this in parallel with the motor.
I imagine something like the 1N4001 would work.

Yes, the 1N4001 should work there.
