I figured out the issue that I was having. It's ultimately going to be a windows only issue and a limitation with the size of the img file. Windows installs of 7zip, WINRAR, etc are not able to decompress files larger than 4gb and this is the full 8gb img that was directly cloned from the 8gb sd card. I found that macOS and Linux can decompress the file with no issues. WINRAR may be able to extract to the file if you set it ignore errors, but i didn't try that.
Ideally, having the IMG file size being of a 2gb install to start would be best. Then let us repartition based on the size of the card installed. Maybe have a note that this won't unzip in windows or something. Ain't going to lie though, it did make it dead simple to burn the img and then pop it in with the supplied 8gb card with the kit.
