1) I am using a Adafruit Trinket (8Mz or 16MZ) from the Kaleidoscope Eyes (Trinket-Powered NeoPixel LED Ring Goggles) kit.
2) I am running 64 bit Windows 10 on PC.
3) I am using Arduino 1.6.11 to code the chip. The chip is the standard Adafruit Trinket.
4) This is my first time trying to upload successfully compiled code to the chip. Please see Dropbox link for pictures of error codes and chip.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
I also forgot to mention that I am not able to select Tools>Port>. I believe there is an issue with the software recognizing that the device is plugged in.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
Make sure you pushed the reset button and the LED is flashing when the IDE is trying to upload. Depending on the compile time the bootloader will time out before the IDE is done. If that does not work try downloading 1.6.9 as it is the last known stable version.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
The issue I am having is that the Arduino software is not recognizing that the USBtinyISP is plugged in and listed under device manager as libusb-win32 devices>USBtiny.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
I have also been sure to press the reset button on the board each time, but without the Arduino software recognizing the connection, it cannot upload the source code.

In the programmer do you have the USBtinyISP selected? That and having the Trinket selected and in bootloader mode should be all you need.

Yes I have the USBtinyISP and the Trinket 8MHz selected under tools. Is there any particular way to put the trinket in "boot loader mode"? And I'm still not sure if you are grasping what my issue is. The USBtiny is connected to the PC but I cannot select Tools>Port>.

You don't select a port for the Trinket just the programmer. To put the Trinket into bootloader mode you press the reset button and the LED should flash for 10 seconds while it is in bootloader then revert to run mode.but I cannot select Tools>Port>.

Well idk what to tell you. I've tried multiple times with multiple USB cables, multiple USB ports, and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the Arduino software as well as the Trinket drivers.

OK. Please contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and they will help you get a new Trinket.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
One last question. Should the power (V+) for the NeoPixel ring be plugged into the BAT+ on the Trinket or the 5V out? Your tutorial PDF (https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/download ... -gemma.pdf) shows it connected to the BAT+, but isn't that a power INPUT to the Trinket?? I think I may have the circuit wired incorrectly and that the NeoPixcel ring should be soldered to the 5V out on the Trinket. Since that is the output power regulated by the Trinket. Thoughts??

Close the IDE, remove the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arduino15 and restart Arduino to see if that helps.

Re: Unable to Upload Code to Adafruit Trinket 8/16Mz
I allowed me to remove the Adafruit boards section of the Boards List in Tools and freshly install 1.4.3 for the Adafruit AVR Boards, now it works! Thanks! ^ ^franklin97355 wrote:Close the IDE, remove the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arduino15 and restart Arduino to see if that helps.
