Gemma and Sequins

by slazear on Fri Nov 11, 2016 5:48 pm

I have a Gemma and am using sequins. There is no data port.
So, am I able to control how power reaches the sequins in order to have some creative effect with lighting? (fading in and out?)
A reference to code to do this if possible would be appreciated.

Hi there! On the Gemma ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/1222 ) there are two PWM pins, D0 and D1. You can use those to control the brightness of any sequins attached to it by using the following functions:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
analogWrite( 0, brightness );
analogWrite( 1, brightness );

where brightness is how bright you want the sequin to be.

Hi
Sorry for my ignorance... Are those not data points? How do the sequins understand that with no date input connection?
I was hoping that the power (power and ground) could be controlled. Or does that code control the power? Im new to this.. Have a garment/bracelet going in a fashion show tomorrow night and was hoping to have it do more than just shine. But I'm using sequins not neo pixels.

You are correct, those are not data points. You can control the power and ground using the data pins on your Flora, check out this guide for an example: https://learn.adafruit.com/interior-pur ... t/overview

There is also example code in that guide showing some very basic functions for controlling the lights :)
