usbTiny and Atmel studio 7

by steven1977 on Thu Apr 13, 2017 3:48 pm

I would like to upload a new bootloader onto my ATmega 328P chip with my USBTiny.

Searching on the internet I saw that I need to use atmel studio, so I Installed the latest version.
Under Tools->Device programming, I cannot select my USBTiny as a tool.
I checked in my device manager and under libUSB-win32devicesI have USBTiny, so I guess that the driver is installed correctly.

What is still wrong? Why doesn't atmel studio recognize the USBTiny?

There is a youtube video I remember viewing, how to set up right path in Studio 6 to use usbtiny as an external programmer, so it's recognized. I believe this Video is it. Might be same protocol in Studio 7. There is an adafruit FAQ on installing bootloader Here. You can also install Command line tools and use usbtiny directly with AVRdude in command line, or terminal if you use Mac.
