Hello - I need help:
I connected Gemma with a USB2 cable, but I can't see an icon on my laptop (macOS High Sierra, 10.13.6) - it is not recognized!!!
For a workshop with kids I wanted to use Gemma aswell with Windows 7 / 10 - I have installed the driver but I and can't see the Gemma either.

Make sure the USB cable is not charge only. Try another USB cable or verify the one you have can move data by using some other device.

What you have is the older version of the Gemma:

Note the deprecation warning at the top of the product page:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3501
With the Gemma you have, no folder or icon will show up on your PC. Also, Arduino is the only programming option:

If you were wanting to use CircuitPython, you'll want to get a Gemma M0.

Note the deprecation warning at the top of the product page:
And the recommendation to use the newer Gemma M0:Deprecation Warning: The Gemma bit-bang USB technique it uses doesn't work as well as it did in 2014, many modern computers won't work well. So while we still carry the Gemma so that people can maintain some older projects, we no longer recommend it.
