Hi all,
We have built a headlamp around the Attiny24A. I programmed mine with Atmel Studio 6.1 and AVRDude. The chip programmed perfectly the first two times. The third time, I got the error initialization failed rc=-1. Now, I can't program the Attiny24A.
My friend, using the same board, programmed it many times. He uses Atmel Studio 6.0.
Any idea what's going on? How do I get my computer to recognize the Attiny24A again?
Thanks,
Kevin

rc=-1 indicates a connection problem between the computer and the ATtiny. Check your wiring.

That was the first check, though I'll check it again. We have it set up so that the connector on the ribbon cable on the USBTiny slides onto a set of six pins. All other connections are via traces on the board. Unless I lost a solder connection somewhere, that's not the problem.adafruit_support_rick wrote:rc=-1 indicates a connection problem between the computer and the ATtiny. Check your wiring.

Is your friend using the same USBtinyISP?

He used the same unit 10 times (I saw him use it twice) and has the same model kit that he uses all the time.adafruit_support_rick wrote:Is your friend using the same USBtinyISP?

Probably a stupid question, but did you add a crystal? If you changed the fuses to use external crystal that might be the problem.
I'm currently playing with Attiny24A-PU and had similar issue.
