Protection for short-circuit?

Post by mike_golan »

Hi Limor,
I was wondering if there was any protection in case of short-circuiting when the USBTinyISP is attached to ISP and is providing power. I'm relatively new to microcontrollers and electronics, and I would like to know if I can keep programming on my macbook pro (which is worth my life), or begin programming on my pc (which is totally replaceable) in case I have a brainfart and short my circuit.

if you connect 12V to the 5V line, that could damage the computer. so just dont work with 12V circuits. there is a fuse in every computer to protect the USB port from taking too much current so thats not really an issue
