Chip Socket

Post by myrddin »

I have a USBTiny on the way and I have a question regarding building it. Can you use a socket on the ATTiny2313 inside the programmer? I don't see one on the parts list and would rather socket the chip so I can remove it later if need be. My only worry was that if you put it in a socket it wouldn't fit inside the enclosure. Can anyone tell me if they have done this or if it would fit?

It comes with a socket. You can see it on the soldering instructions.

Though mine was supposed to come with a 10 conductor ribbon cable for the 6 pin ISP too, which was missing. Couple extra resistors, an extra LED....

Don't be surprised if you get +/- 1 for any given part, I guess.

You are right there is one in the instructions. I just checked over the parts list and hadn't gotten that far in the instructions since I haven't received my kit yet. Thanks.
