Cannot program trinket pro 5v on Windows 10

by nobdoor on Tue Jun 07, 2016 8:46 pm

Hi all. First, thank you for the active support that's given by adafruit. It is tremendous.

I am currently unable to write the blink program to my Trinket Pro 5V, 16MHz. I've followed the instructions outlined by tdicola here: https://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=78892, which include installing the USBTiny windows driver, installing the Arduino IDE (1.6.8), and the board/board manager settings for Adafruit.

After initializing the bootloader and uploading the blink sketch, the Trinket-Pro stops pulsing its red LED and idles, with the green LED on. There is minimal information posted in the console after the upload completes. Screenshot shown below. After resetting or reissuing power, the bootloader pulse will activate.

I've also tried this with avrdude after following the steps in the tutorial here: https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-trinket/programming-with-avrdude. I see similar behavior from the device as with the arduino IDE. However there is a diagnostic that reports that I have the wrong device signature. I have the same behavior with avrdude on Mac as well. My console output is below. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

PS - I have also tried hard-coding the avrdude.conf file so that the device signature in the ATtiny85 section matches that of my Trinket-Pro. I have also tried multiple micro-USB cables, and different USB port types (2.0/3.0). No luck.

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE

Pro Trinkets are not ATtiny85's but ATMega328's https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-pro-trinket/overview Set your IDE to verbose mode in the File Preferences and post the results.
